Remember – if I scold you, it’s for your own good!
No, I wasn’t saying this to my boys, though this is my standard line.
I was saying this to the founders who joined me for Launchpad Community Content Day last Friday.
Our idea was simple.
Adelphia Lim (Social Media Manager) and I gave the founders a brief on how to plan content for the next few weeks. Then they had 2 solid hours to do the work on the spot:
– Write LinkedIn posts and Instagram caption copy
– Take photos and shoot videos
– Create reels and craft the calendar
– Schedule and post the content
As the founders got busy, Adel and I moved around the room, answering questions and guiding them one-on-one. We also helped them with taking photos and videos.
Now, why did I scold the founders?
Our mind is the most beautiful thing but it plays games with us. We don’t want to do the hard thing so we postpone the work by distracting ourselves – chatting, asking irrelevant questions, replying to messages, scrolling on socials, going to the bathroom and more!
And that’s not all. Our mind comes up with the most eloquent excuses on why we can’t take action immediately. We make these excuses to ourselves and to others.
No judgement here – We are human. This happens to all of us.
It was at this point I put my business coach hat on and stepped in to stop the overthinking and procrastination. And thus, got the founders to focus on the task at hand and get it done!
How are you planning and doing your content for the next few weeks? I’d love to know!
