—————

As a business grows, what initially felt exciting, meaningful, or joyful can gradually be shaped by stress, performance pressure, comparison, deadlines, visibility, and increased responsibility.

Drawing on insights from sexology about relationships, pleasure, joy, and the stories we carry about these themes, this masterclass invites business founders to reflect on how their relationship with pleasure and joy shapes the way they work, rest, lead, create, and sustain themselves.

Through reflective and creative prompts, participants are invited to reconnect with what feels meaningful, pleasurable, and alive in their work, while exploring what may have become heavy, blocked, or burdensome.

This masterclass is suitable for business founders and entrepreneurs seeking a guided, introspective space to explore pleasure, joy, and sustainability in how they build their business. Participants are encouraged to bring basic art supplies to support the reflective process. No prior art experience is required.

Key Takeaways:

1. Recognise the importance of pleasure and joy in life and business
Explore pleasure and joy as sources of aliveness, creativity, meaning, connection, and nourishment — not as distractions from serious work.
2. Recognise the stories you carry around joy and pleasure
Notice internal narratives that may block access to pleasure and joy, such as “I will rest later,” “I must always optimise,” “joy is not productive,” “pleasure is indulgent,” or “my worth depends on my output.”
3. Explore what blocks pleasure and joy
Reflect on how personal narratives, generational messages, cultural expectations, comparison, and responsibility may shape how you work, lead, and relate to your business.
4. Explore what still feels alive in your business
Reflect on the aspects of your work that evoke energy, curiosity, creativity, contribution, fulfilment, or a sense of purpose.
5. Reconnect through experiential and creative reflection
Use an object, image-making exercise, or reflective activity to connect with a felt sense of pleasure, joy, ease, or aliveness, and consider how these qualities may be gently incorporated into the way you build your business.
