What does it really take to turn an idea into a business?
At just 15, Singapore National Equestrian Athlete Lara Manchharam launched Avesta Equestrian, a brand born from her own experience in the sport.
Now 16, and as Avesta Equestrian celebrates its first anniversary, Lara joins Launchpad League to share what the first year of building a business has really looked like – from developing her first products and finding customers to marketing, sales, setbacks and learning as she goes, all while balancing school and competitive sport.
Hosted by Launchpad founder Megha Singh, From Idea to Action is an honest conversation about starting young, taking risks, learning through experience and turning an idea into something real.
The event will also mark the launch of a new Avesta Equestrian product in celebration of the brand’s first anniversary.
• Spot the opportunity — Great ideas often start with a problem you experience yourself.
• Start before you’re ready — You don’t need to have everything figured out.
• Expect setbacks — Risk, mistakes and learning are part of building.
• Stay consistent — Ideas only become businesses through action and hard work.
• What’s your idea? — What problem could you solve, and what could you start?
Young people with an idea – and parents who want to encourage them to start.
Founder, Avesta Equestrian | Singapore National Equestrian Athlete
Lara Manchharam is a young Singaporean entrepreneur and competitive equestrian athlete, and the founder of Avesta Equestrian, Singapore’s first equestrian apparel brand.
Lara created Avesta Equestrian after identifying a gap for stylish, functional riding apparel suited to Singapore’s tropical climate. Alongside building the business, she represents Singapore in equestrian sport and is the 2026 Singapore National Champion in the 110cm category.
